The NEW Big Course Source Book
The NEW Big Course Source Book
The NEW Big Course Source Book is bigger and better than ever, two books in one, the NEW book and the old one combined. Available November 29, 2017.
Perfect for the student and instructor, even judges will find courses and inspiration in these pages.
The NEW Big Course Source Book is an electronic book available in PDF to download to your computer or other device. Individual pages may be printed as desired.
Perfect for the student and instructor, this book contains over 350 legal AKC Rally maps. There are some that would be excellent for a match.
Information is given for the requirements for each level of Rally; Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Excellent. and Master A charts gives you an easy reference for what signs are available for use at each level.
The NEW Big Course Source Book is updated to include over 200 maps, which include the new 2017 AKC exercises and the Intermediate, and Master Level.
How to Set Up a Course leads things off.
There are 20 Nested Sets - all AKC legal
20 courses that are not nested (so each is unique) for EACH level; Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Excellent and Master. A couple of "variations" are included for some putting the total over 20. The Intermediate are NOT just "jump removed" Advanced maps but individually designed. If they are the same as the Advanced they have had changes made to them, and there are only a few of those maps.
For those who want to do "this" or "that" there are also 20 Blank courses that you can play with.
The file is PDF and you can print out any of the maps (or the entire book) if you want. Rally All Around will not run on portable devices, but this will.
Because the maps in the old version of the Course Source Book were still good - although the sign were no longer legal as some wording had changed and there were no Intermediate or Master level, I included the entire original Course Source Book (with over 175 maps) in this one. Most of these maps are part of nested sets.
The PDF file allows you to search for maps and there is a table with info on all the NEW Nested Sets to allow you to easily pick what you want to check out - box, diagonal or "combo" course; which cone exercises you want; what jump you want; ring size. Just click on the table and it will take you to the map.
Maps for the individual levels are not listed in the table.
The OLD Big Course Source Book also has a table with listings of jumps and cones and ring size. What's new is that this has been updated so that a click will take you to the map. The old Big Course Source Book had the following:
The "At a Glance" Table that gives you information on each of the courses:
-
Is it a nested set or one level; is it box, diagonal or combo course; ring size; cone exercises used; does it have the send to jump; other comments.
-
Detailed instructions are included on how to set up a rally course - it's not always as easy as it seems.
-
There are 37+ nested sets, some with variations. Most are AKC legal courses although most should not be used at an actual trial. They were designed for classes and individual practice.
-
19 Quirky courses - ugly, difficult, fun, unique and many are not legal, none should be used for a trial.
-
8 Easy courses good for beginning classes and trials where easier courses are needed. One is good for 4-H and was used at one of their "trials".
There are 444 pages, two "complete" books and over 350 maps in the NEW Course Source Book!
I was not allowed to include this in the book, but special thank you to Rachel who did all the formatting, technical work and made the tables "interactive". And much more. Without her this would not be possible.
This book requires any pdf reader. Most mobile devices and computers include a pdf reader. If you don't have a pdf reader, you can download a free one from Adobe here.
